The Animal Legal Defense Fund also posted an update for Tony about Mr. DiCaprio’s support and announced the May 5, 2011 hearing against The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries in East Baton Rouge District Court over the legality of the permit issued which allows Tony to be kept as a roadside attraction at Tiger Truck Stop in Grosse Tete Louisiana as well as the inhumane and detrimental conditions Tony is subjected to. http://www.aldf.org/article.php?id=1695

  1. The cruelty to this animal should be punishable by law. Let that cat go and be a cat. I thought it was illegal in this Country to own wild animals such as this.

Let that cat go and live out its days without the harsh unhappiness and loneliness i know it must be suffering.

I can not believe there are such heartless people in the world such as this. If I saw this was going on I wouldn’t refuel at this Station and I believe many more will feel that way as the word gets out about Tony!

    • Unfortunately in some states it is legal to own an exotic dangerous animal such as a tiger. See this link for State Laws Governing Private Possession of Exotic Animals http://www.bornfreeusa.org/b4a2_exotic_animals.php Tony was grandfathered in under the 2006 law which now prohibits ownership of tigers in Louisiana. Tony was never legally owned per a 1993 Iberville Parish ordinance never enforced in 16 years but then amended to allow one individual – Michael Sandlin – to possess and exhibit a tiger in the state of Louisiana.
