Thank you to Allen and Donna Smith from Ask The Trucker for their strong support of “Free Tony The Tiger”and for featuring Tony as one of their topics on BlogTalk Radio last night. If you missed the show you can still access the replay of it at: http://www.blogtalkradio.com/truthabouttrucking/2010/11/04/saving-tony-the-truck-stop-tiger and see Allen’s recap of the show at: http://www.askthetrucker.com/truckers-protest-ny-state-rest-area-closings/
”Free Tony The Tiger” appreciates everything Allen and Donna are doing for Tony such as networking his story and visiting Tony at Tiger Truck Stop recently and documenting the state of Tony and his living conditions. Please see their video and account of Tony at: http://www.askthetrucker.com/tony-the-truck-stop-tiger-revisited/
Thursday’s show also featured Hope Rivenburg who discussed the recent NY state rest area closing protest and the fight for Jason’s Law HR 2156 in the House and S971 in the Senate. Hope is the widow of trucker Jason Rivenburg who was murdered in March of 2009 due to lack of safe truck parking.
It’s so important for us to support each other in the fight for our causes. Allen and Donna are avid voices for Tony so in turn please support Jason’s Law which will provide secure areas for truck drivers to rest or wait until they can unload their trucks at: http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/jhlrivenburg/ More information: http://jhlrivenburg.com/

Thanks to everyone for your support in the Governor Jindal Contact Day on Monday. At the least his office, and hopefully he, knows there are many people who care about Tony and are very concerned for his welfare. There is always something you can do everyday for Tony, whether it be writing letters, emailing, calling, networking, etc. The ”Take Action! tab on his Facebook page, and https://freetonythetiger.wordpress.com/take-action/ both have many ways you can be an advocate for Tony.

Louisiana Residents: You have a strong voice for Tony – tell the LDWF, your Governor, Senators, and other elected officials, that a tiger exploited at a truck stop is unacceptable in your state. Laws were broken and changed for Mr. Sandlin whose own self-interest was more important to the Louisiana Department of Wildlife & Fisheries and the Iberville Parish Council than the health, welfare, and life of Tony. The LDWF’s own position on privately owned tigers is as follows:
“It is the Department’s position that private possession of tigers poses a significant hazard to public safety and is detrimental to the health of the animal. Prolonged confinement is by its nature stressful to tigers and proper long-term care by experienced persons is essential to the health of the animal.”
Question why this is allowed to continue and why one individual has been and is receiving such preferential treatment. Contact info can be found at https://freetonythetiger.wordpress.com/contacts/
Tigers are not “pets,” gimmicks, props or attractions and such magnificent cats deserve our respect, admiration and protection. Tony has suffered for 10 long years in the unnatural and unhealthy environment of a truck stop
It’s vital to participate in these efforts to help Tony. All of us have been fighting very hard for him – and we can’t give up now. Tony deserves a real home , professional care, peace and respect. Do whatever you can to ensure that he has the opportunity to experience all of this and more.
Thanks again for your continued support and dedication to Tony.
